International language teaching, with the individual learner at its heart.
Instructional coaching, teacher development and practical classroom expertise.
Matched to your language, level and goals.
With a French father and a Scottish mother, I grew up mainly in Ireland, with languages and different cultural perspectives woven into everyday life. Today, I am based in St. Gallen, Switzerland, bringing more than twenty years of international language education to my work.
I spent extended periods in Italy and Germany working in translation, interpreting and language education, including helping language teachers develop their practice. My career then moved into full-time teacher professional development and coaching for student success. That combination still shapes my lessons: sound methodology, thoughtful feedback and close attention to the person doing the learning.
My passion is languages and helping people reach their goals, enjoy the process and see the world through another set of eyes. Whether we are preparing for an exam, finding your voice at work or exploring a new culture, I want learning to feel purposeful, welcoming and full of possibility.

A personal approach begins with understanding what you need.
When you get in touch, we start with your current level, your goals and what would make learning worthwhile for you. I draw on my experience in language teaching and teacher development to help match you with the right teacher and course.
You may work with me or with another teacher in our team, depending on who is best placed to support your learning. Together, we shape the lessons around you, with room to adjust the pace and focus as your confidence and skills develop.
My distinctive strength is the combination: an experienced linguist, an Oxford-trained educator, a teacher of teachers and a practitioner informed by positive coaching psychology.
My MA in Translation Studies brings close attention to meaning and expression. My PGCE, MSc in Education and Cambridge DELTA underpin the way I design learning. My MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology adds an understanding of motivation, self-talk, strengths and the pursuit of meaningful goals.
For you, that means more than working through a coursebook. It means carefully chosen challenges, clear explanations, feedback you can use and support for becoming a more confident, independent learner.
At Saudi Aramco, I trained and supported teachers, observed teaching and provided constructive developmental feedback. My work connected language acquisition methodologies, educational technology, curriculum planning and reflective practice.
My professional-development materials focus on increasing purposeful learner talk, structuring group work, developing learner independence and turning observation into practical next steps. I bring that same reflective discipline to planning and reviewing my own language lessons.
Explore my teaching philosophy →At Institut auf dem Rosenberg in St. Gallen, I teach French and Italian across demanding international qualifications: IB French and Italian, Pearson Edexcel AS French and A-level Italian, and AP Italian Language and Culture. My teaching brings together the content and skills each course requires: cultural understanding, close reading, translation, structured writing and confident spoken interaction, with literature and film analysis where specified. Alongside this, I teach German, coordinate the German summer programme and develop practical German courses for staff.
After completing my PGCE and MSc in Education at the University of Oxford, I worked at St Edward’s, an outstanding boarding school in Oxford, both as a languages teacher and in pastoral care. I taught French for iGCSE, A-level and IB, alongside Italian, German and English. This combination of academic and pastoral responsibility reinforced a conviction that still guides me: ambitious learning works best when students feel understood, supported and ready to participate.
My career extends beyond teaching languages to helping other teachers teach them successfully. At Saudi Aramco, I combined English teaching with instructional coaching and curriculum coordination, delivering professional development, observing lessons and turning research into practical classroom strategies. Earlier work at Linguarama in Stuttgart involved tailored business English for professionals. Together, these experiences sharpened my ability to connect rigorous methodology with the needs of real learners.
At Emerald Cultural Institute in Dublin, I prepared international learners for IELTS and TOEFL and provided interpreting for French- and Italian-speaking adults. Teaching and language work in France, Italy and Germany, alongside my academic training in translation, developed a close sensitivity to meaning, register and cultural perspective. I bring that experience into lessons that help learners communicate with precision, flexibility and a sense of connection.

My MA in Translation Studies and cultural interpreting experience encourage close attention to meaning, register and the choices a speaker or writer makes.
Language becomes richer through stories, contemporary issues, everyday conventions and cultural comparison. These can become focused workshops or part of a wider course.
My academic and coaching interests include self-talk, attention, reflection, peer collaboration and the conditions that help a learner keep trying.
My exam teaching combines close attention to the specification with a broader understanding of how people learn. I help learners interpret tasks, build accurate and flexible language, organise arguments and prepare for spontaneous speaking.
Diagnostic work, selective feedback, timed practice and a sustainable revision routine turn an ambitious goal into practical steps. Coaching skills support attention, confidence and constructive responses to setbacks.
